FirstLight Charity – WordPress Site Launch

FirstLight Charity Wordpress Site Launch

Just a quick post about a recent WordPress site launch we had for FirstLight. FirstLight are a new the Irish charity, formally known as ISIDA (Irish Sudden Infant Death Association), and deal with sudden deaths of children and kids. We’ve done a few charity sites in the past like Cork Autism and so it was good to be able to use some of our WordPress skills for another worthwhile charity.

The site itself is fully responsive and the online hub for FirstLight. The site contains lots of useful information relating to sudden death as well as resources and services that are available around Ireland for people to avail of who have experienced an unexpected loss.

Beyond the info/brochure portion of the website another role for the FirstLight site is to help raise some money via donations so they can maintain and expand their service. The site comes equipped with donation options via PayPal, phone text, bank transfer a special online charity widget from iDonate.

Another revenue raising aspect of the site is a WooCommerce integration which allows FirstLight to sell some of their branded products and other items directly from their online shop. Having an online shop on their own site allows them to keep the overheads of sales down to a minimum ensuring that the charity gets more of the proceeds of the sales.

SEO wise the first challenge for this site is to get ranking at the top for branded search terms. There are quite a few other companies and services using FirstLight but we’re confident that in time we’ll get the site to no.1 in Ireland for it’s search term Long tail keywords are already moving in the right direction but given their offline campaigning, and recognition their building up for the name FirstLight getting them to no.1 for that term is the primary objective.

All in all charity websites are something we like to do. The subject matter for this site is particularly moving but we’re happy to be a part of something that will be much bigger and have a positive impact for people all over Ireland.
