Google PageRank is Back!

Just a quick update for you now to let you know, in case you haven’t already heard, that Google PageRank is back, for now at least. And, it’s actually made me happier than it probably should have.
The SEO world is all a chatter today as Google pageranks around the globe, which haven’t been updated since way earlier this year, and according to Matt Cutts were due to be phased out or discontinued, have been updated. My site which heretofore had no Google Pagerank has now been given a PR3, a solid start and hence the happiness.
Did your site get a change in Google Pagerank? You can check your pagerank by using one of the many SEO toolbars available or by visiting a site like http://www.prchecker.info/. Just checked my page ran and its now PR4 downgraded from PR5. Thats how page ran get calculated. Phew :-( Thanks for your info.!

Oh gosh. I’m in a state of real panic now…..my rank is two. How do I get it up.

Hey Wendy, thanks for reading and I can assure you I didn’t mean to cause you to panic hehe. Google PageRank isn’t that important a ranking factor these days so don’t get too worried about it, sure a higher PR is better than a low one but it isn’t the be all and end all.
Google PageRank is primarily based on the number of links you have pointing to your site and the quality of those links pointing to your site – it’s key to note that not all links are equal. The higher the PageRank of a site linking to you the more trust it passes on to your site in the eyes of Google.
And so, to increase your page rank get some quality backlinks to your site. The best way to do is by creating, what has almost become a cliche at this stage, quality content so that other people will link to it and share it creating natural backlinks and authority. With some quality content and backlinks your Google PageRank should increase but again, it’s not the be all and end all.
As AJ Kohn says “quality content is the goal, links are the result”. All the best, Rob
